NEW FUNDING PROJECT “Lifetime SelOx”

BMWi – Research funding in the 7th energy research program “Research for a more environmentally friendly, reliable and affordable energy supply – the “Lifetime SelOx”project has started

01.10.2020

The aim of the project is to research the thermodynamic, chemical, apparatus and operational principles for a SelOx reactor for co-fine cleaning in reformers for PEM fuel cell CHP systems as well as the integration of a functional model in a 5 kW micro-CHP system.

In close cooperation, the partners in “Lifetime SelOx” will evaluate the performance and long-term stability of the newly developed SelOx reactor during plant operation.

The project is characterized by the following innovations:
a) Evaluation / characterization of various SelOx catalysts
b) Integration of the reactor concept into the existing thermal management system of a fuel cell CHP plant
c) Integration into the existing reactor concept of a fuel cell CHP plant with liquid cooling
d) Development of an adapted BoP concept while maintaining the current electrical energy demand
e) Development of adapted operating routines to provide the necessary reaction conditions for the SelOx reactor while maintaining the current start time of the reformer, the dynamics in the event of load changes and the modulation range

Participating partners are:
– WS Reformer GmbH (www.wsreformer.com) / Renningen (Koordinator)
– DBI Gastechnlogogisches Institut gGmbH (www.dbi-gruppe.de) / Freiberg
– inhouse engineering GmbH (www.inhouse-engineering.de) / Berlin
